11/11/11 – Happy Veterans’ Day

Standard

“Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die.” – G.K. Chesterton

“In war, there are no unwounded soldiers.” – Jose Narosky

“We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.” – Cynthia Ozick

I think today speaks for itself. But these are 3 of my favorite Veteran/Military quotes that I wanted to share. Happy Veterans Day, everyone! A special moment of remembrance today for my Pop Pop, Grandpa and Dad…MY veterans!

I would just ask all of you to REALLY think about the 2nd quote. “In war, there are no unwounded soldiers.” They need our support and attention  more than ever when they return home to our soil. That’s when their next battle begins.

Ultimately, this next quote is my favorite:

“I dream of giving birth to a child who will ask, ‘Mother, what was war?'” – Eve Merriam

I can only wish that one day there will be no more war. Until then, I am honored to know so many that risk or have given up their lives for our country.  I know not the courage it takes to be that strong!
